In March 2022, California-based documentary filmmakers Mark and Greg Runnels<\/strong> reached out to me<\/a> regarding their plan to film a biographical documentary, titled Catholic Boy<\/em>, about Jim Carroll. I followed up by reaching out to Rosemary Carroll (executor of the Jim Carroll Estate as well as Jim’s ex-wife), who confirmed she had given the project her blessing largely due to the brothers’ perseverance (it is quite difficult to get Rosemary’s blessing)<\/em>. When I met Mark and Greg a short time later, they had already spent considerable time poring through the Jim Carroll Archive at New York Public Library<\/a>, which impressed me a great deal, as did their obvious love of and admiration for Jim Carroll. Although the project took a little time to build up steam due to the need to round up funding, as of April 2025 the filming of interviews appeared to be firmly underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
