Dennis Driscoll grew up in Inwood, a neighborhood in upper manhattan, during the period Jim Carroll writes about in The Basketball Diaries<\/a>. Many of the characters<\/a> in The Basketball Diaries<\/em> were Dennis’s friends and they appear in his stories. With encouragement from his friends on the Jim Carroll Discussion List<\/a> as well as buddies in the band Ween<\/a>, Dennis went on the spoken-word circuit with his stories. Dennis passed during COVID. I miss him, I miss his stories, and I miss his amazing Inwood dialect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
