This is an unpublished, handwritten fragment Carroll wrote out for me for this website while awaiting his flight at the Toledo, Ohio, airport. The fragment was, at one time, part of the poem that eventually became “Sick Bird” in Void of Course<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a rare instance of an occasional poem by Carroll that was not just published but reprinted in anthologies, Carroll’s book, and the collection of his early books. It’s also interesting because the poem that follows it in the magazine is another play on Berrigan’s list poems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
